Will my diamond be certified?
All our diamonds are certified. To find out more click here. Do we sell conflict diamonds?
The answer to this is NO. It is unethical to sell conflict diamonds as they originate from areas of the world unregulated and in conflict areas where militant forces or mercenaries use diamonds as a source to fund illegal activities within their own or neighbouring countries, or in contravention of the decisions of the Security Council. We often refer to this as 'the fifth C', click here to find out more.

JP Diamonds use 18k White Gold, 18k Yellow Gold, Platinum across our collection of fine jewellery. We also use rose gold on certain items. Please enquire if you require other precious metals.
What is the difference between 18k White gold, 18k Yellow gold and Platinum?
White gold is in fact yellow gold, it is in the forging process that the yellow gold is mixed with other alloys to produce a whiter colour, this is then often finished with a coating of rhodium plating to achieve a polished white surface. It may be that after a few years the white gold will appear to tarnish, this is actually the rhodium plating wearing and natural yellow gold coming through. If this happens it is a simple case of re-rhodium plating the item of jewellery to restore it to its original white lustre. Yellow gold in its purest form is very soft and is impractical for use with jewellery. Like white gold, yellow gold is mixed with other alloys, often copper and silver to achieve a harder metal. Platinum is naturally white and will never lose its brilliant lustre. White gold is yellow gold mixed with other metals to make it whiter and is often plated with rhodium to achieve its shiny white surface. Over time white gold will begin to yellow and may require re-plating to regain its white colour. An easy way to tell if a ring is platinum is to pick it up. Platinum is denser than gold, so a platinum ring will weigh about 40% more than the same design in gold. The tactile feel and reassuring weight of platinum cannot be matched by any other precious metal, which is something that men in particular tend to appreciate on their wedding ring. Does platinum scratch?
All precious metals scratch, and platinum is no exception. However, with platinum, its surface qualities mean there is no measurable metal loss and the piece maintains its integrity and mass. This unique quality means that over time platinum does develop a natural patina, a matte finish, that is preferred by many owners. But if you prefer a high finish on your platinum pieces, a qualified jeweller can maintain it with regular polishing. As durable as platinum is, it's important to remember that it is still precious jewellery and needs to be taken care of. It is not indestructible so some housework, gardening and other heavy work could affect the appearance of platinum jewellery. Will my ring be hallmarked?
The world famous Assay office in Birmingham hallmarks all our silver, gold and platinum. It is illegal to sell gold and silver over 1g in this country without a hallmark.
